Fixing Uneven Edges
Uneven work is often due to improper stitch counts at the start/end of rows or inconsistent tension. Using stitch markers in the first and last stitch is the best way to prevent accidental increases or decreases.
The Foundation Chain
Beginner projects often curl because the starting chain is too tight. Solution: Use a hook one size larger for the foundation chain, or learn the "foundation single crochet" technique.
Abbreviations and Symbols
Learning abbreviations like "sc" (single crochet), "dc" (double crochet), "inc" (increase), and "dec" (decrease) is vital. "Frogging" is a common term for ripping out stitches when a mistake is made—it’s a normal part of the process, not a failure.
